Activating your card - new and replacement cards

  • To activate your card, call us on 0800 500 933 (Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:30pm).
  • For security, your PIN will have been sent to you separately.
  • Your card will come with a pre-set PIN. If you want to change the pre-set PIN to a PIN of your choice, you must take your card to a Westpac branch with 2 other forms of identification, one with your signature.
  • If you have regular payments being processed on your Debit Mastercard, ensure that you advise merchants of your new card details, to avoid any late payment penalties or missed payments. 

Keeping your card secure

  • Sign your card immediately.
  • Memorise your PIN, keep it secret at all times and do not record it.
  • Do not send your card overseas.
  • Keep us informed of any changes to your personal details. 

Lost or stolen card

  • Notify us promptly if your card is lost, stolen or used without authority or if you believe someone else knows your PIN.
  • Call us on 0800 500 933 or +64 4 819 2783 from overseas and follow the IVR prompts for assistance. We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to support you in the event of a lost or stolen card.
