Rabobank appoints new sheep and beef research analyst

Agribusiness banking specialist Rabobank has announced the appointment of Genevieve Steven to bolster its research capabilities in the New Zealand animal proteins sector.

Ms Steven joins the bank’s RaboResearch Food and Agribusiness division from KPMG where she worked as Farm Enterprise Consultant. Prior to this, she worked for ANZCO Foods Limited as an Agribusiness Developer.

Rabobank New Zealand CEO Todd Charteris said Ms Steven arrived in her new role with significant work experience across New Zealand’s red meat value chain.

“In her previous roles, Genevieve worked closely with sheep and beef farmers to support them with budgeting, financial decision making and strategic planning as well as their relationships with processors and customers,” he said.

“She’s also acted as a facilitator for a number of Red Meat Profit Partnership Action Network Groups, and these experiences have enabled her to understand the issues facing farmers and to develop strong knowledge of New Zealand’s sheep and beef sectors.”

“We’re really pleased to have Genevieve on board in our RaboResearch team as it will allow us to further support our sheep and beef clients by expanding our market insights and commentary on New Zealand’s animal protein sector.”

Ms Steven takes over coverage of the animal proteins sector from Blake Holgate, who was appointed Head of Sustainable Business Development for Rabobank in New Zealand earlier this year.

Part of global specialist food and agribusiness banking cooperative Rabobank Group, Rabobank New Zealand is one of the country’s largest rural lenders and a major provider of corporate and business banking services to the food and agribusiness sector.

Ms Steven said she was looking forward to working alongside NZ-based senior analyst Emma Higgins and her other RaboResearch colleagues around the globe, to develop meaningful research materials for the bank’s clients.

“The RaboResearch team has analysts in all the key sheep and beef meat-producing regions around the globe and I’m really excited about working with my new team to bring informative reports and podcasts to the bank’s client in this part of the world,” she said.
