Rabobank NZ announces new General Manager of Country Banking

Rabobank New Zealand has appointed Bruce Weir as General Manager Country Banking, responsible for the bank’s client-facing agribusiness teams across New Zealand.

Chief Executive Officer Todd Charteris said the bank was delighted to appoint a senior agri banker of Bruce’s calibre and experience, following an extensive recruitment process that attracted a number of strong candidates.

“During his 20 years in rural banking, Bruce has held several senior roles – most recently as our Interim General Manager of Country Banking while we completed the recruitment process,” he said.

“Bruce has developed a proven track record of contributing to business growth and consistently displays values and behaviours aligned with Rabobank’s purpose as New Zealand’s only specialist food and agribusiness bank.”

Mr Weir, who has a Bachelor of Applied Science from Massey University, first joined Rabobank as a finance officer in Pukekohe in 2000. After a period at ASB, he returned to Rabobank in 2010 as Branch Manager in Rotorua and was promoted to Regional Manager Northern North Island in 2013.

In his new role, Mr Weir will be a member of the New Zealand Leadership Team and Rabobank’s Australia and New Zealand regional executive team.

Mr Weir is married with two children and lives in Rotorua.
